Here at West Coventry Academy we believe that the right careers advice throughout a students’ time with us is crucial in helping them make the right decisions about their future and provides direction and purpose to their journey with us.
We employ a full time careers Officer, Chris Day.
Her responsibilities include:
- Providing targeted support for Year 11-13 to help them make important decisions about final destinations
- Advice to Year 8 and Year 11 as they make their GCSE subject choices and make applications to Post 16 providers
- Organising and leading on career related educational visits to events such as the Skills Show
- Leading on organising Year 10 Work Experience (ALL students participate in a two week work experience at the end of Year 10)
- Leading on whole school PHSE Days which have a careers focus.

Year 11 Students
Please check local Colleges’ Websites for up-to-date Information re Interviews/Open Events/Enrolments, but information as it stands:
- Coventry College – Closed 19th March – all planned Interviews are postponed
- Solihull College – Open this Week still (for Interviews etc)
Warwickshire – Open this week. Open Events next week beginning 23rd March have been cancelled, however there are Virtual Open Events. Everyone should like or follow the relevant college profile(s) on Facebook / Twitter / Instagram and they will receive a notification at the start of the Virtual Open Event, and then they can tune in to our Live Welcome and Q&A session.

Anyone can search for local apprenticeships however students will need to create an account to then apply for vacancies
Local Training Providers/Colleges who support Apprenticeships. They do have SOME apprenticeships but will also support you in your search, however students needs to also be proactive as there are no guarantees.
